AASE is committed to fair peer review and responsible publication. Our policies are guided by the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
- 1. Peer Review -
- All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by members of the AASE review committee with expertise in the relevant field.
- Reviewers evaluate originality, relevance to the conference theme, methodological soundness and clarity of presentation.
- Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis; decisions are typically sent within 2–3 weeks of submission.
- Reviewers must declare any conflict of interest and decline submissions they cannot review impartially.
- Registration and payment have no influence on review decisions. Fees are requested only after a submission has been accepted.
- 2. Grounds for Rejection -
A submission may be rejected if it:
- falls outside the scope of the conference;
- lacks sufficient academic quality, originality or methodological rigor;
- does not follow the submission guidelines after a request for revision;
- has been published, or is under review, elsewhere in substantially the same form;
- raises ethical concerns, such as plagiarism, data fabrication or lack of required ethical approval.
- 3. Plagiarism and Research Misconduct -
- Submissions are screened for similarity to previously published work.
- Where significant overlap or other misconduct is suspected, AASE will contact the corresponding author for an explanation before making a decision.
- Confirmed cases may lead to rejection of the submission or, after publication, a correction or retraction in the proceedings. Where appropriate, the author’s institution may be informed.
- 4. Authorship and Originality -
- All listed authors must have contributed substantially to the work and approved the submission.
- Authors must disclose funding sources and any conflicts of interest.
- Use of AI tools in preparing a manuscript must be disclosed. AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
- 5. Corrections, Retractions and Complaints -
- Authors who find a significant error in their published work should contact the Secretariat promptly so that a correction can be issued.
- Authors may appeal a review decision, or raise any concern about our review or publication process, by writing to aase.association@gmail.com. Each appeal is considered by a committee member not involved in the original decision.
